Other Side lands on Melodic Techno Afterlife

Playlist placements are the quiet ones. No announcement, no email, you just notice the numbers moving and go looking for why.

This one is worth writing about. “Other Side” is now on Melodic Techno Afterlife, a playlist put together by curator Music Spot, and it sits at track four out of ninety nine. That is roughly six hours of melodic techno, and the fourth thing you hear is mine.

The company it keeps

The part that actually stopped me was the description. Music Spot describes the playlist as the best from artists like Anyma, ARTBAT, Bicep and RUFUS DU SOL, and ORIKLE is named in that list.

I have been open about where this sound comes from. The Anyma records and the whole Afterlife aesthetic are a big part of why I make melodic techno at all. Ending up named in a playlist called Melodic Techno Afterlife, four tracks in, with an Anyma record sitting a couple of rows below mine, is not something I would have written down as a realistic target a year ago.

To be clear about what this is: it is an independent curator’s playlist, not a Spotify editorial list and nothing official from the Afterlife label. That does not make it matter less. Curators like this are how a lot of people find music that has no marketing budget behind it.
